Undertow

We are on an island

that is sinking in the sea

Each wave curls

and breaks green ribbon

foams and churns

And brings some land

Back to the blue

I don’t know where sky

stops and starts any more

It fades to a plane

in my mind

Yet the surf

Repeats its process

I should try the same

Erode old ways

Erase the barrier

in wave after wave

And find my fading

horizon.
